Fabrication Equipment/Tools: Computerized Cutters Accu-Cut router, industrial waterjet machine, welder, various hand tools

Installation Equipment/Tools: Two Skyhoist 57-ft. cranes

Materials/Components: Epoxy fiberglass shapes pulled from sculpted molds, .025 aluminum skin, 7,000 pan head screws to replicate rivets, stainless steel wing struts, halo-illuminated channel letters on backer panels with GE PowerMax white LEDs and GE 24V power supplies.  Matthews Paint and primer.

Software: Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD

Other Components/Tools: Two 36 in. x 9-ft. footings with rebar cages, 12 1.125 x 42-in. anchor bolts

The original concept – to create a “wing-like” structure for the entrance monument – evolved into a Douglas DC-3 wing, with the skin of the upper and lower sections fabricated of riveted aluminum, to honor this airport where most of these aircraft were built for service in World War II.

Materials/Components: .125 aluminum, .063 returns, Matthews Paints, Principal LED Heavyweight LEDs, Plaskolite Tuffak LD with perforated custom printed vinyl overlay

Software: Adobe Creative Suite

Fabrication and installation of reverse channel letters with white recessed LEDs were prefabricated into precast concrete panels. Styrofoam molds were provided to the manufacturer of the precast. The building name reads as incised letters during the day highlighted by sunlight and shadows, while illuminating bright white at night.

Yunker Industries created an in-store chandelier concept and channel letter signage for its customer, Urban Hardware. The look they sought was a unique, custom branded piece that sets them apart from their retail competitors that would evoke retro-elegance and ruggedness.
