swissQprint (Kriessern, Switzerland) recently announced that SuperGraphics (Seattle) has installed the 2,000th swissQprint large-format printer, a milestone for the Swiss manufacturer, according to a press release.

SuperGraphics CEO Reid Baker had his first encounter with swissQprint technology at the SGIA Expo in 2013, where a print with texture in the eyelashes left a lasting impression. He considered acquiring swissQprint technology after an elevated press lineup change in 2020, reconnected with the manufacturer, then finally made up his mind upon seeing the Nyala 4 flatbed printer at drupa 2024.

The 2,000th swissQprint machine was installed earlier this month, and Baker plans to use it for texture and neon prints, spot varnish and droptix 3D effects, as well as regular jobs of up to 100 boards. “We marketed the Nyala before we even had it and have received more interest than we’ve ever seen for a new piece of equipment,” Baker is quoted in the release.

The SuperGraphics team recently completed training on the Nyala at swissQprint’s US facility in Elgin, IL, the release states. Baker was particularly impressed by the Tip Switch Vacuum system, which efficiently controls 256 vacuum segments, thus eliminating the need for taping and boosting productivity. He is confident that the new addition to the shop will open new doors and new business for SuperGraphics. “If you can be the innovation provider for your clients, they’re going to give you everything else,” Baker is quoted in the release.
