2009 SEGD Design Awards Call for Entires

The Society for Environmental Graphic Design is accepting entries for its 2009 design contest. The deadline is January 30, with late entries being accepted until February 13. Categories include:

Dynamic Environments (media façades, interactive architecture, digital billboards, electronic public art, etc.)

Office/Workplace (office buildings, business parks, convention and conference centers)

Leisure/Entertainment (walking & biking trails, rec centers, theme parks, stadiums, theaters and cinemas, hotels and resorts, restaurants, spas, cruise ships and many more)

Educational/Institutional (health care facilities, libraries, schools, government facilities)

Transportation (airports, ports, subway and inter-city rail, bus, highways and roadways, parking facilities)

Advertisement

Retail/Commercial (retail malls, storefronts and interiors, outdoor advertising)

Residential (apartments, residential developments, retirement centers, dormitories)

Urban/Cityscape (cities, mixed-use, wayfinding systems, streetscapes)

Exhibition Design/Museum (museums, zoos, interpretive exhibits)

Trade Shows/Events/Temporary (expositions, festivals, athletic events)

Master Plans/Planning/Research (conceptual ideas; research and evaluation; sign, identity and branding, programs)

Miscellaneous (signage and sign codes, architectural graphics, identity programs, public art, donor recognition programs, maps & interpretive diagrams, symbol & pictogram systems, gateways, etc.)

Student Projects

This contest is also open to non-SEGD members. Eligible projects entered must have been completed between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008. Entries must demonstrate the use of graphic design elements (including but not limited to typography, symbols, pictograms, diagrams, color-coding, etc.) in the design solution and must focus on the communication of information, identity, or image in the designed environment.

Projects entered in previous years may be entered again if they did not win an award (contact SEGD for information on resubmitting a project).

There is no limit on the number of projects that can be entered by an individual or firm.

Jurors and their firms are not eligible to enter. Student work is defined as work done in 2007 or 2008 by full-time students enrolled in a recognized design program.
