Signs of the Times recently recognized the winners of its first-ever Women in Signs Award with a virtual ceremony. The six winners were:

  • Heidi Tillmanns, national signage manager, Trans Canada Trail (Montreal)
  • Patty Soria, vice president of production and co-owner, Signtech (San Diego)
  • Elizabeth Minaise, project manager and partner, SignCraft Premier Identity Solutions Inc. (Roseburg, OR)
  • Nancy Wilde, “sign-tist,” Wayside (Vernon, BC, Canada)
  • Marissa Cianciulli, owner/sign writer, Super Signs (Philadelphia, Los Angeles) + motion picture sign writer (Los Angeles)
  • Dawn Tiritter-Bent, president and owner, Signarama Huntington (Huntington Station, NY)

During the ceremony, the winners discussed their signmaking beginnings; their paths to their current positions; their feelings as women in a male-dominated industry, and ideas to involve more women in the sign industry; and other topics that made for an interesting, funny, educational and heartfelt dialogue.

The ceremony was moderated by Signs of the Times Managing Editor Grant Freking. The 2021 Women in Signs Award was sponsored by AXYZ and Watchfire Signs.
