Howard Industries (Fairview, PA) announced that US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross recently toured the company s facilities to highlight companies deemed as essential, and also because the company was manufacturing products to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Howard Industries, within two weeks of having been declared essential, created a new product, SGuards Essential Wellness Shields, a cast-acrylic, chemical-resistant, social-barrier product line.

According to a statement from the company, the SGuard product line offers multiple durable aluminum mounting options for counter, desk, ceiling, wall, and floor freestanding models, offering confidence and health protection in “employee to employee” and “employee to customer” interaction environments.

The product began with eight standards and now has over 300 styles, with thousands of units sold in the following months, creating additional jobs and multiple shifts of production. An Erie, PA TV station picked up the story as a successful local manufacturer shifting to COVID-19 related production, catching the attention of the US Department of Commerce. As a result, Secretary Ross made the visit.
