This summer in Cincinnati, art is going batty. More than 10,000 Louisville Slugger baseball bats will be painted, wired, glued and nailed to create a series of public-art projects scattered throughout the city. The art project, coordinated by ArtWorks (Cincinnati), gives local and regional artists — including everyone from full-time artists to students — a forum to showcase the whimsical designs made of bats.

The Bats Incredible art program reflects Cincinnati's historic role in baseball — not to mention that the Cincinnati Reds are currently playing the inaugural season at their new home, Great American Ball Park. Betsy Neyer, ArtWorks spokesperson, said the goal is to display 250 projects by summer's end and hold an auction of the artwork to benefit charity this fall. Bats Incredible will be on display until October 3. For more information, visit www.batsincredible.com.
