Gordon Sign helped honor Curt Gowdy – the native Wyomingite who became a Hall of Fame sportscaster and avid outdoorsman – with this 30 x 57-ft. gateway structure to his namesake park. The monument comprises ¼-in.-thick, routed, flat, cut-out aluminum fashioned with the shop’s Logixx Automation 8 x 20-ft. CNC router table to create the graphic elements. The fishing line entails ¼-in.-diameter, aluminum rod. Digital images, which Gordon created with 3M IJ-180 Controltac media on its Epson GS6000 printer, decorate the fisherman and his catch. To affix the graphic elements to the sign’s masonry base, Gordon implemented 6-in. x 12-ft., rolled-steel tubing for the arch, and 3-in.-thick, steel uprights and 12-in.-diamater poles to match the caisson footings. Matthews acrylic-polyurethane paint coats all sign parts not digitally decorated. Harker created this custom design using Corel’s X3 software.

Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art

This Millersburg, PA facility honors Ned Smith, a native son who earned accolades as a fine artist for his depictions of regional woodlands and creatures, and for teaching roughly 4,000 schoolchildren annually about the area’s unique wildlife. Stoner Graphix devised the two-sided monument’s 5-ft.-diameter graphics using Gerber Omega software and fabricated it with sandblasted, handcarved and Gerber Sabre 408-routed Duna HDU components and prismatic-cut, Chemcast acrylic lettering. Akzo Nobel Grip-Gard® Base-Coat acrylic-polyurethane paint decorates the circular logo. For one of the side’s graphics, Stoner cast the carved-HDU feather, leaf and brush with a Poly-Tek rubber mold and formed the pieces from Poly-Tek resin.
