EGD firm Whitney Veigas (Boston) has acquired Visual Communications Inc. (VCI; St. Paul, MN), marking its expansion into the Midwest.

Founded in 1991 by Cheryl Long O’Donnell, Richard Lang and Constance Carlson, VCI offers wayfinding, master planning and documentation services. The company will remain in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area and operate under the name Visual Communications | A Whitney Veigas Studio. Gretty Fry will be the new company’s studio director.

Whitney Veigas was founded by Travis Veigas in 1981. The company was an early adopter of the design-build process for sign programs and has built tools for use by the sign industry, including the Identia sign programming and documentation system.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
