Canon U.S.A. Inc. (Melville, NY) recently announced that Executive Vice President Francis McMahon will be retiring “after an incredibly successful 37-year career within the printing industry and many years of dedicated service to Canon Inc., Canon Solutions America, and Canon U.S.A. Inc.,” according to a press release. His retirement is effective March 14.

After joining Canon when the company acquired Océ in 2010, McMahon made major contributions not only to Canon but to the greater print community as well. With the help of McMahon’s leadership, Canon secured the No. 1 market share in the production print market and has enjoyed consistently excellent results in that segment year after year. He also co-founded thINK, an independent community of Canon Production Inkjet customers, solution partners and print experts that became highly regarded in the industry. McMahon’s willingness to help others and grow the overall print industry is a great example of Canon’s corporate philosophy of Kyosei – “all people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future,’’ according to a statement from the company.

“All of us at Canon are very appreciative of the many outstanding contributions Francis has made during his time with us,’’ Canon U.S.A. President and CEO Sammy Kobayashi is quoted in the statement. “His knowledge, passion and drive to succeed allowed him to achieve so much as he helped us become market leaders in production printing.’’

“I have loved being part of the Canon family,’’ McMahon is quoted in the statement. “Canon is a strong brand that is powered by talented and passionate people. I will miss our customers, partners and my colleagues, but I am confident that Canon will continue to grow and remain a leader in the industry.’’
