Avago Technologies intorduces the ASMT-Rx45

Avago Technologies (Boblingen, Germany) is introducing the ASMT-Rx45 series of low-power, high-brightness, lead-frame Chip LEDs. Reportedly the industry’s thinnest, these 1.65 x 0.8 x 0.45mm-sized chips operate in electronic and signal signage. Avago says ChipLEDs require less board space and provide designers with a 20 to 30% cost savings over industry-standard plastic-leaded chip carrier (PLCC)-based LEDs. These chips provide a 130° viewing angle that improves visibility in sunlight. Special lead-frame construction transfers heat away from the chip, which allows a -104 to 180° F (-40 to 100° C) temperature opetating range. Chips come in red, red-orange, orange, and yellow to yellow green.
