Clear Channel Outdoor (NYC) is announcing that, on September 11, it will observe a "moment of silence" on 450 billboards in 23 markets in its digital out-of-home (DOOH) network to recognize the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. The moment of silence will last 1 hour and 17 minutes, and will occur from 8:46 to 10:03 a.m., which parallels the time elapsed between the first planes, American Airlines Flights 11 and 174, struck the World Trade Center (WTC) and the final plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed near Shanksville, PA. American Airlines Flight 77 also hit the western side of the Pentagon in metro Washington, D.C. During this interlude, a simple, black-and-white graphic will appear depicting the WTC’s Twin Towers before they fell with the message, "Pause and Reflect. 9/11/2001". After the moment of silence, the message will run once per minute for the rest of the day.

Markets where "Pause and Effect" will run include Atlanta; Boston; Chicago; Columbus, OH; Dallas; Daytona Beach, FL; Houston; Indianapolis; Jacksonville; Las Vegas; Memphis; Miami; Milwaukee; Ocala, FL; Orlando; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Portland; San Antonio; Seattle; Tampa; Washington, D.C./Baltimore; and Wichita.

Another DOOH Outdoor Advertising Assn. of America campaign, "National Day of Service of Remembrance," which highlights ways for people to perform acts of service in honor those who died and those who helped during the crisis. It will run, in tandem with the "Pause and Reflect" message, on more than 300 DOOH boards through September 11 in Akron/Canton; Albuquerque; Cleveland; Des Moines, IA; El Paso, TX; Fort Smith, AR; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Minneapolis; New York; Reno; Sacramento; Salisbury, MD; San Francisco; and various Canadian markets.
