Continental Research Corp. (St. Louis) is offering Tefla-Pent, a lubricating penetrant and moisture barrier with micronic-suspended Teflon. The product lubricates metal surfaces as it cleans and removes rust and other corrosive deposits, according to the company. Tefla-Pent, which is non-conductive up to 21,600V. It can also displace moisture and create a waterproof film that helps dry out electrical equipment and prevent electrical discharge. Of special interest to signmakers and sign servicepeople is that it displaces moisture and, in addition, serves to prohibit the resettlement of moisture. This could prove useful in electric-sign installations, especially those where ground connections are exposed to the elements. The product is sprayed directly on, or in, affected areas. It can also be used on ignition systems, motors, battery terminals, circuit breakers, lamps and sockets, relays, fuses and junction boxes. Further, the penetrant can free parts frozen by rust, gum, paint, corrosion, scale and carbon. It’s suitable for lubricating nuts, bolts, joints, coupling and pipe threads, and penetrating corroded parts. For penetrating corroded areas, users can spray the frozen part and tap it to set up the vibration necessary for penetration.
