EP&M Intl. Workplace Display Gives GE Division Measure of Success

Wall graphic reinforces M & C mission at offices worldwide

Managers of GE’s Measurement & Control (M & C) division, which manufactures sensors and other measuring equipment used in the power-generation, aerospace and oil industries, hired EP&M Intl. (Albany, NY) to create an impactful wall wrap for the division’s Minden, NV headquarters. Using both client-supplied imagery and stock photography, the shop’s designers refined the design with Adobe’s Creative Suite 5. EP&M edited and prepared the images with Photoshop, developed all vector-art pieces in Illustrator, and integrated the elements with InDesign for final output.
EP&M printed the graphics with Avery Graphics’ MPI 2611 wall film. According to Gene Lindman, the company’s president, the 6-mil, calendered film was ideal for the job because its thickness reduces wrinkles and bubbles; provides long-term durability; contains a removable adhesive, and its luster finish limits glare. The shop decorated the film with its EFI-VUTEk QS 3200 UV-cure-ink printer with VUTEk Series 2 inks.
“The most challenging part of the installation was framing the graphics within the highly curved wall at the Minden facility so the installers had to lay the film out cautiously,” she said. “There were several oval elements within the wall graphics, so our design team plotted the graphics carefully to optimize their effectiveness.”
GE has also ordered similar wallcoverings for facilities in Korea, Brazil, Russia, China, Bahrain, Italy, Germany and Japan, which will be translated into each country’s primary language.
