The Foundation for the Advancement of the Sign Industry (FASI, Cincinnati) has appointed Roy Cox, president of Trav-Ad Signs (Huntsville, AL), to its Board of Directors. Cox has served the sign industry in numerous capacities: as president of the Mid-South Sign Assn. (2004), as chairman of the Intl. Sign Assn. (2009) and as a Board member (2013-14) of former The Signage Foundation, Inc. (now known as the Sign Research Foundation).

Cox purchased Trav-Ad Signs in 1978 for $2,000; the company is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary.

“Roy’s love for, and devotion to the sign industry exactly match the goals and purpose of FASI,” said Wade Swormstedt, FASI’s executive director, who has worked with Cox before. FASI serves as clearinghouse of information about the value of signs and myriad legal aspects, with links to three sign-industry research organizations, a re-creation of the former Small Business Administration website, online versions of numerous out-of-print books, and numerous articles from sign-industry trade journals, along with original material as well.
