GMG ColorServer Wide Format

GMG (Tuebingen, Germany) has annouced its ColorServer Wide Format centralized, color-management software that allows you to achieve uniform print results across various manufacturers’ lines and models of printers. In addition to delivering consistent color files to multiple printers. CoverServer also includes GMG’s SmartProfiler device for printer profile creation, and the Barbieri Spectro LFP RT spectrophotometer.

The software also automates color space conversions and normalizes different, various standards of incoming RGB or CMYK files into a single uniform working color space. It supports various industry standard and in-house standard file formats, to create consistent-appearing , printed images, especially in diverse – offset and digital — or hybrid environments.

ColorServer Wide Format also adapts contrasting inks (UV, solvent, aqueous, etc.), to diverse substrates on dissimilar machines, with different RIPs. GMG said it transfers (and normalizes) an incoming file to a single, consistent, controlled, working-color space which makes the file available for repurposing across different color standards. Such files can be forwarded to any calibrated printer, with color management turned off in the RIP, to avoid any color conflicts.

Additionally, ColorServer’s flexible output allows you a last minute, print machine choice option, with, the company said, no visible difference in results.

The ColorServer Wide Format package includes the GMG SmartProfiler, a new, user-friendly wizard that allows you to easily (step-by-step guidance is included) calibrate and profile different output devices. With it, you can create a profile, calibrate a printer, and update calibrations and linearize printers as necessary.

The BARBIERI Spectro LFP RT spectrophotometer, designed to measure large printed samples, is a seamlessly connected, automatic measuring instrument suited for most large-format flatbed and UV-cure printed materials. It measures papers, vinyl, textiles, cardboards, plastic plates, gypsum plates, wood, glass, stone, ceramics plates and more.
