GoVision LP (Argyle, TX), a supplier of turnkey, mobile, LED units and customized modular LED walls, supplied Daktronics LED boards to help reopen Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention center. In early May 2010, when the Cumberland River overflowed, Nashville and its premier resort flooded.
Meeting planners, convention organizers, travel-industry leaders and dignitaries gathered at Gaylord Opryland to celebrate with a three-day series of events that showcased the city’s resilience and the re-birth of the convention hotel.
The main event, held in the hotel’s Delta Atrium, featured modern dancers hoisted above the crowd on wires, indoor fireworks and a pyrotechnics display. GoVision integrated four types of LED screens into the show, including a 15 x 40-ft. main screen comprised of Daktronics HD12 LED boards; two, 9 x 16-ft. remote HD12 LEDs; a 20-ft. diameter cylinder of Winvision 1875, which was raised and lowered throughout the show as part of the complex and elaborate staging; and eight, shared, effects elements constructed with Barco Mitrix panels
In addition, GoVision incorporated three, new, 13 x 13-ft. Pix20 Rollup LED screens into the annual lighting ceremony for the resort’s “A Country Christmas” attractions. In a dramatic and unique effect, the screens rolled up to allow the Rockettes and other entertainers to enter the stage, then back down to provide a dramatic, high-definition backdrop. At the end of the show, the screens rolled up completely to provide an unobstructed view of the hotel illuminated in the background. Chris Curtis, GoVision’s CEO, said, “We deployed flat panels, wrap-around boards, cylindrical and rollup LEDs, and just about every type of equipment and configuration possible to help deliver some absolutely extraordinary images.”
The festivities were orchestrated by Dallas-based messaging architects Corporate Magic.
With 3,000 employees and nearly 3,000 rooms, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center is the largest hotel in the U.S. outside of Las Vegas. GoVision’s screens can best be viewed beginning at the 23:40 mark of the “Gaylord Opryland Grand Reopening Ceremony” video posted at www.GaylordOpryland.com/mediaroom.
