Handpainted graphics can deliver an edginess and character like no other graphics medium. That’s why Rockstar Games chose that approach to herald the release of the controversial game Grand Theft Auto IV and selected ArtFx Murals and Painting (Portland) to render the graphics.

ArtFx painted 10-story-high characters from the game on the sides of the Figueroa Hotel in Los Angeles. CBS Outdoor leases the walls.

ArtFx has handpainted large exterior wall murals since 1984. They've also depicted scenes and characters from such movies as Spiderman 3 and Pursuit of Happyness in various other murals. The company’s website says, “Our paintings have character and color that are superior to printed stickup or hand-up vinyl.” The company does advertising murals, permanent art murals, architectural and other storefront/façade decorative and high-rise painting.
