After a fervent response from the local community, AMC Theaters announced that it will renovate – but not replace – a beloved sign affixed atop the 81-year-old Uptown Theater in Washington, DC’s Cleveland Park neighborhood. Instead, the sign’s lighting will be retrofitted with LEDs for improved energy efficiency.
