Top Nanosys (Sangdaewon-Dong, Korea), in conjunction with ShinHa Inc. (Seongnam City, Korea), is presenting the Lumisys Transparent LED Signboard. The LED signboard comprises LED chips and polymer-based films that are coated with transparent and conductive carbon nanotubes. The slightly less than 1.5mm-thick panels offer roughly 80% transmittance; the maximum panel size is 500 x 500mm. The lightweight panels, which operate at 12, 24 and 48VDC, can be easily installed to such rigid substrates as glass. Suitable applications include interior or exterior displays, show windows, advertising, automobile and household appliances. Operating temperature is less than 140° F (60° C). The reported lifetime is greater than 40,000 hours.

The product won the Lightfair Intl. 2008 LFI Innovation Award for the Best of Category (Theatrical, Specialty Luminaires [including Fiberoptic, LED, Remote Source, Other]). The company says, “This is the next-generation LED signboard, unseen before in the world, which can be extended to a wide range of applications by its unique, see-through effects and flexibility.”
