Lightfair Launches Design Symposia

The 2010 LIGHTFAIR® Intl. (LFI) educational program has launched the Design Symposia, which will debut at the May 2010 Las Vegas LFI tradeshow and conference. The initiative presents four, 90-minute symposia designed to further inspire and educate lighting professionals.
The design-related symposia include:
? Changing the Orientation by 180° at 6500K, with Ken Lewis (AIA, LEED AP), president of ac martin. This discussion focuses on achieving a high-performance work environment within an institutional framework by implementing a sustainability strategy that finds the synergies between light, space, structure and energy;
? Lighting: The Most Important Aspect of Interior Design, with Michael Bedner, chairman and CEO of Hirsch Bedner Associates. This in-depth explanation, from this renowned hospitality designer, shows how lighting can make or break an interior;
?Create Iconic Places: Lighting is a Big Player, with Mark Rios (FASLA, FAIA), founding principal of Rios Clementi Hale Studios. This presentation shows how unique, adventurous lighting solutions can create iconic urban places through the use of standard off-the-shelf products and innovative design; and
?Sustainable Design and Architecture in Mexico, with Tatiana Bilbao (S.C), president of Tatiana Bilbao/mx.a. Mexico, despite its economic and developmental challenges, could easily jump into more sustainable construction with less access to modern technology.
The Daylighting Institute and the Lightfair Institute take place Monday, May 10 – Tuesday, May 11, 2010 and the conference seminars and symposia occur Wednesday, May 12 – Friday, May 14, in conjunction with the tradeshow days.
