Lightwriters Neon (Chicago), a family-owned small business operating from North Suburban Cook County, IL for almost 50 years, has announced the grand opening of Lightwriters Neon Chicago to offer classes to the public, according to an email announcement. The event will be held at the teaching studio space at 4222 N. Ravenswood Ave., 2nd Fl. on Nov. 9. The event is open to the public. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Nov. 8.

Lightwriters will offer regular classes in the craft of neon, both for small groups of individual students and larger custom group classes, as well as bench rental for experienced students and the larger neon community. Class offerings will include “taster” and immersive one-day courses as well as multi-week in-depth instruction for neon enthusiasts and seasoned artists, according to the announcement.

“Neon has such a magical quality, the combination of light and glass is truly very unique,” Jacob Fishman, who has nearly 50 years of experience as a neon fabricator and educator is quoted in the announcement. “It’s a fascinating medium for the folks just looking for a new experience or artists wanting to incorporate neon into their work.”

“We’re eager to bring our expertise in neon art fabrication techniques to a wide range of students and hope we’re able to provide a friendly and inspirational workspace for those students to explore this craft,” Zoelle Nagib, director of the Lightwriters Neon Chicago, is also quoted.
