Memjet (San Diego) is announcing a partnership with Fuji Xerox Co. Ltd. (Tokyo) for the development of a wide-format printer featuring Memjet components. Memjet’s wide-format, inkjet-printing system employs Memjet Waterfall Printhead Technology™ and Fuji Xerox is integrating the technology and components into a 1,600 x 1,600 dpi, roll-fed, 42-in.-wide printer.
Fuji Xerox is targeting a formal product launch in Asia Pacific at future date to be determined.
Memjet Waterfall Printhead, a fixed array device, delivers more than 3 billion drops of inks per second; the planned print engine will image at speeds of 300mm/second at 1,600 x 800 dpi or 150mm per second at 1,600 x 1,600 dpi. The maximum continuous length of print is some 30m.
Mike Puyot is president of Memjet’s wide-format division.
A prototype machine was on display at Drupa, powered by a Caldera RIP; reports say it’s a four-color, aqueous-inkjet printer that images with dye-based inks. Show samples were run on lightweight (85gsm) coated paper. Nearby samples comprised backlit film, polyester, canvas and mesh. See a video at: http://youtu.be/r5tDUceDkko.
