Motif Launches Remote Modular Power Supply

Published

on

Motif Architectural Lighting (Santa Ana, CA), a provider of LED-based architectural illumination products, is launching its Remote Modular Power Supply (RMPS). The RMPS provides low-voltage, Class II DC power from modules encased in an extruded-aluminum housing. Dimming control is available.
The RMPS, combined with Motif’s recently announced lines of specialized, LED, graphic illuminators, lightboxes and decorative down lights, is suitable for retail, hospitality, exhibition, commercial lighting and other industries. It can be placed up to 100 ft. away from the housing of an LED graphic illuminator or LED fixture using small, 20-gauge, plenum-rated, two-conductor wire. This low voltage wiring solution doesn’t require metal conduit. Easily replaceable power modules don’t require an electrician, the company states. The RMPS is available in two sizes, one that accommodates up to four modules and one that accommodates up to eight modules.
Designed for precision dimming of LEDs, the RMPS uses pulse-width-modulation dimming circuitry with 0-10V control signals. Pulse-width modulation utilizes a rectangular pulse wave that essentially turns the LEDs on and off for imperceptibly short periods of time, maximizing energy efficiency and power savings.
The RMPS is suitable to drive the innovative LED-Array from ION™ Light Engines featured in all of Motif’s lighting products.
