The Museum of Neon Art To Reopen July 11

Will include limited hours and capacity.

The Museum of Neon Art (MONA; Glendale. CA) has announced the official reopening of the museum scheduled for July 11 on a trial weekend basis. All employees and visitors will be required to wear masks and stay six feet away from anyone outside their household while on MONA premises in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The museum will operate at a limited capacity and is prepared for visitors with hand sanitizer and floor markings to remind patrons to keep a safe distance from each other, as well as contactless payment options, pre-purchase online tickets and enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols.

“While we are looking forward to sharing the glow of the neon lights with our community, our priority remains the safety and health of our visitors and employees,” said executive director Corrie Siegel. “Over the past 14 weeks, we have developed reopening plans through careful consideration of the recommendations of the American Alliance of Museums, the CDC, and other health experts.

The exhibition space will host no more than 20 people at a time, the gift shop no more than six and the lab/classroom will host no more than 11. Guests will be allowed in on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors without masks will be provided disposable masks and will also have the option to purchase a fabric mask printed with MONA artwork and historic signage.

The museum will continue to provide online resources and weekly Instagram takeovers based around historic walks and studio tours for those at home.
