National Datacast Inc. (State College, PA), a provider of point-to-multipoint, digital-media connectivity, and AccuWeather.com are partnering to facilitate dynamic-content delivery to digital-signage viewers.
The arrangement allows digital-signage network operators to provide regularly refreshed, highly localized, relevant content that attracts viewer attention to advertising messages. National Datacast can deliver Accuweather content in real time or on refresh intervals. Thus, a datacasting network delivers more, and more timely, content.
"Datacasting provides economies in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint digital connectivity" said Jacqueline Weiss, National Datacast CEO. "Weather content has been proven to attract eyeballs and create valuable advertising adjacencies on every medium," Scott Homan, Expert Senior Meteorologist and executive director of out-of-home media for AccuWeather.com, said. "Working with National Datacast makes it easy and economical for out-of-home network operators to bring the power of AccuWeather content to their screens."
National Datacast was established in 1988 as a commercial subsidiary of the Public Broadcasting Service. It continues to deliver nationwide, terrestrial, wireless data broadcasting and providing customized solutions for delivering entertainment, information and other digital content to consumers in- and out-of-home, businesses and government across the U.S. National Datacast’s network integrated the broadcast facilities and capacity of PBS member television stations with options for wired or wireless broadband as a return channel, enabling clients to reach their customers locally, regionally and/or nationally, in real time or on a scheduled basis.
