ONYX Graphics Inc. (Salt Lake City) has announced Version X10 of its production RIP products: ONYX® ProductionHouseTM, ONYX PosterShop® and ONYX RipCenter™. The X10 RIP products include an improved profiling process (for ONYX ProductionHouse software only) and automated print-and-cut workflow. The products also include improved native PDF, PostScript®, and RIP engine for more reliable file handling and reproduction of images from Macintosh® and PC-based creative applications.
X10 also improves output quality with Smart 16-bit processing technology and PANTONE’s® PLUS SERIES spot-color matching system. Onyx added Smart 16-bit Processing to its ONYX 32-bit color engine to enhance and maintain color while operating at production speeds.
Its job-based RIP options increase automation and error reduction and enable you to manage and build workflows for more complex PDF and PostScript files, without changing the RIP default.
The Quick Set, user interface aides workflow automation. Choose, for example, Quick Set for storing cutter parameters and easily and quickly build print-and-cut job workflows. A CUT-Server features helps you manage multiple cutting styles (and fix unwanted cut paths) without having to reconnect to the design application.
The X10’s automated, color-profiling system and easy guides help you build media profiles with either dynamic or custom-defined ICC presets, and, its Enhanced Color gamut mapping can enhance color output.
A new,Black Diamond tool, with recalibration devices, allows greater output quality control and consistent output over multiple media types and devices.
Also included is ONYX PrintMetryx™ JobView service, an advanced job log that enables on-line tracking of job costs and resource usage, which allows insight into daily printing operations. Each print job contains a thumbnail image, detailed information about the print job, and costs for ink and media. Finally, the ONYX Links™ web-customer support accesses myriad support resources.
