Remembering Signs’ longtime contributing editor, who was also a Burning Man co-founder.

Louis M. Brill, who documented all the latest spectacular signage in New York City, Las Vegas and elsewhere for Signs of the Times, has died at age 71. One of the few Contributing Editors in Signs’ history, Brill began writing for the magazine in 1992, and contributed more than 50 articles from his San Francisco office.

His last article, “Going with the Flow,” was published in our December 2017 issue. Louis was also a fine artist and one of 80 Burning Man founders to bring the famed festival to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada (see segd.org/burning-man for more). He will be missed.
