Roland DGA (Irvine, CA) has added new features to Roland DG Connect, an app that helps users gain a detailed understanding of their print operations while keeping their devices running at optimum performance, according to a press release.

The updates include a new remote control feature for important functions of their Roland DG inkjet printers to further improve operational efficiency, plus new display screen customization options for increased ease of use and convenience. Roland DG is also offering customers a free 90-day trial period of the Roland DG Connect Premium Plan, which includes these new features and enables Roland DG printer owners to experience the benefits.

The new Roland DG Connect remote control system enables users to control a variety of printer functions remotely using their mobile phones or PCs, such as turning the printer and heater on and off, circulating white ink, cleaning, and test printing. This allows the user to complete printer setup for a job before leaving for work so that printing can begin immediately after arriving at the office. The printer can also be turned off from home when long print runs are completed at night, minimizing time wastage and providing a more secure operation.

In addition, users can now modify the Roland DG Connect display screen to remotely monitor their printers’ operational status such as operating rate, printing progress and remaining ink level. Frequently used icons can now be customized to the user’s preferred layout in easy-to-use locations, allowing for a more comfortable and optimized work environment for each customer. These new features are included with Printer Monitoring Pro, which is available with the Roland DG Connect Premium and Professional plans — all per the release.

“Roland DG Connect provides a host of useful features that are designed to help print professionals better manage their overall operations and get the most out of their machines, maximizing overall efficiency, productivity and convenience while reducing downtime,” Scott Burgess, Roland DG America’s Software Product Manager, is quoted in the press release. “This added functionality further increases the capabilities of the app, making it even more beneficial to Roland DG users.”
