SABIC Innovative Plastics (Huntersville, NC) has appointed Sameer Singla as senior director of its Polymershapes distribution unit. Singla has nearly 20 years of global business experience, and extensive knowledge of plastics and distribution, with positions in such industries as plastics, lubricants and pharmaceuticals.

Most recently, he was the director of global growth initiatives at Ashland, Inc., a $7.8 billion specialty chemicals company. He also served as head of marketing for Ashland’s plastics distribution business (now Nexio). Singla owned and operated a 700-person, three-plant, pharmaceutical-manufacturing firm in India, where he established a four-continent distributor network.

Singla holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering and a B.A. in economics from Syracuse University, plus an MBA from the University of North Carolina.
