Cover To Cover

  • I had no idea you’d run that hand sketch on the cover of the [January] issue. It marks the fifth time my work has been featured there … though it’s a 25-year lapse since the last time. It is a great honor. — Mark Oatis, YESCO, Las Vegas

(Editor’s note: Pictured above at right is Mark Oatis’ previous cover from a quarter of a century ago.)

Special Requests

  • I would love to see more stories about women in our industry! The iconic Las Vegas sign was created by a woman graphic artist. Please do a story on her. She is still alive. — Marti Etheridge, Laguna Bay Printworks, Laguna Vista, TX
  • Would like to see more actual stories on large-project signs, and how other sign companies run their shops. — Cody McElroy, Commercial Signs, Houma, LA

Column Supporter

  • I like [Shop Operations columnist Dale] Salamacha’s articles. — David Gonzalez, Skymark Signs, Toronto

Crowdsourcing

  • Re: Outside floor graphics on 6-months-to-a-year-old concrete. We have a client that wants to install a printed floor graphic on a concrete surface. However, the catch is that this is a 30-ft. entrance hallway to a restaurant and needs to be permanent. Is it possible once the concrete has cured for a time, to install a floor vinyl and cover it with a textured epoxy or clear coat product to protect the graphics, and adhere to anti-slip requirements? — Steve Rowe, SpeedPro Affinity Solutions, Sarasota, FL

Liking Our Look

  • I think your new SOTT layout is very snappy and attractive. Super well done! — Jeff Rice, Bald Guy Files, Montrose, CO
