Bluemedia outfits a racecar-hauling trailer

Speedco, an oil-change and tire-replacement service that caters to tractor-trailers, and Jegs, a vendor of high-performance, drag-racer parts and accessories, co-own a hot rod that races on the NHRA circuit. They hired bluemedia (Tempe, AZ) to decorate their 52-ft.-long trailer. Andy Salcido, a bluemedia account executive and racing junkie, was handing out promotional material at a Pennsylvania racetrack when a Speedco rep contacted him to arrange a meeting.

For Will Mejia, the bluemedia designer who devised the wrap, creating balanced graphics that reinforced both companies’ branding, provided the ultimate goal.

Using manufacturer’s schematics to reference the trailer’s dimensions, Keal tiled the artwork using Onyx Graphics Inc.’s PosterShop RIP and created custom templates to output 4-ft.-wide panels with a ¾-in. overlap on 3M Graphics Market Center Controltac™ air-egress film using bluemedia’s Hewlett-Packard Turbojet 8300 solvent-ink printer. To create a second-surface graphic, the shop output a second-surface panel on the Turbojet, which it supplemented with plotter-cut decals.
