That could be a Mark Twain quote, but it’s not. We completely fabricated it to make a point to illustrate that, quite unfortunately, some warning signs wouldn’t exist without the cautionary tales that inspired them.

We’re hoping that’s not the case with all of the following signs, because some of these depict very grim dangers lurking in the most unexpected of places. If there was a real-life inspiration for the sign, try not to worry about the same misfortune happening to you – just be glad you weren’t the poor sap.
