On June 24, USA Today columnist Rhonda Abrams, who’s also president of The Planning Shop, praised signage for its cost-effective advertising impact. She notes the effectiveness of signs her company posts in its tradeshow both, which only cost $100 apiece but generate great traffic, and notes her carpet cleaner’s missed opportunity for failing to decorate his company van with inexpensive, magnetic-sheet graphics. She offers common-sense checklist for end-users, which includes such details as keeping color, logo and typeface consistent; keeping messages brief (i.e., under 10 words); making sure signs are visible from all directions; and using high-contrast colors and ample lighting. And, naturally, becoming familiar codes to understand what’s permissible.
