Valentine’s Day at the Heart of February’s Calendar

9 is National Bagel and Lox Day. We all know bagels, but did you know the word “lox” has not changed its pronunciation in 8,000 years and still refers to a type of salmon, per a professor of linguistics at New York University? Ancient word or not, they’re still gross.

14 Valentine’s Day arrives, of course, on FEBRUARY 14 with its gifts of flowers, chocolates, dinners out and more. You may also want to rendezvous with local shops and restaurants in advance, as they may need temporary signs for V-Day sales and specials. Gotta love that!

15 Proudly celebrate Singles Awareness Day on FEBRUARY 15 regardless of what, if anything you did the day before. According to ABC News, 46% of American adults are single. The day is a reminder to the other 54% that not everyone is or wants to be in a relationship.

26 We close the month on FEBRUARY 26 with National Set A Good Example Day. Though this is only the third year this day is being observed, it still presents an opportunity to demonstrate the right thing at work, home, etc. Set a good example and others will follow.
