The Vasquez Rocks Natural Area near Agua Dulce, CA received its first new signage and mapping project on Nov. 9, according to a press release published by SCVNews.com.

Four years in the making, the project by the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation includes a new wayfinding network that has adapted some user-created paths into formal trails, as well as navigation signs encompassing trailhead kiosks, trail intersection maps, directional and mileage trail markers, paper maps updated with QR codes and an updated L.A. County Trails App. The interpretive signs feature detailed photos and illustrations of local animal and plant life, indigenous culture in the Tataviam Village of Mapipinga, ecology, geology and history.

Vasquez Rocks is the pilot in the Parks and Recreation Department’s extensive branding and signage program for all natural areas in L.A. County.
