W.A.C. Lighting Aids Chinese Earthquake Victims

Lighting manufacturer helps relief effort by donating to the Red Cross.

Vice President and co-founder Tai Wang of Garden City, NY-based W.A.C. Lighting is spearheading relief efforts to help earthquake victims in western China.

W.A.C. Lighting, a manufacturer of track, recessed, undercabinet, decorative and monorail lighting, recently opened manufacturing facilities in southern China and employs 42 people from the earthquake zone, seven of whom lost their family homes.

“Our company and its employees are coming together to raise funds to help earthquake victims throughout China,” explained Mrs. Wang. “Additionally, we are working closely with the Flushing Chinese Business Assn. of Queens to consolidate our efforts.”

The firm has helped raise nearly $250,000 for quake relief.

W.A.C. Lighting and the FCBA plan to give the money to the Red Cross. “The Red Cross is well-known and trusted in China,” Mrs. Wang explained. “The Red Cross Society of China was the first responder after the earthquake, arriving even before the army.

W.A.C. Lighting has provided relief after other disasters, including the 9-11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the 921 Taiwan earthquake, and the tsunami.
