I am what you call a “lifer.” I grew up around the sign business and started installing at age five, tagging along with my father, who was just starting the business and doing it all on his own. I have been hooked ever since. Work-life balance is key, and although I may not be the best at it right now, I am learning. My children won’t be young for long, so I make it a point to be at every event they have. When the job requires after-hours surveys or a weekend installation, I try to have them tag along (when it is safe) to show them what I do and to spend time together. Even when the job gets a little stressful, I make time for my family. We escape the hustle of everyday life — my wife plans short trips over the weekends or day trips to the mountains and beaches.
