FIRST PLACE
This 100-ft.-tall tower sign comprises 6-ft.-sq. stacked structures. The 7-ft., 10-in. fixture on top includes eight polycarbonate windows and HID lighting. The 5-ft., 9-in. dome includes a lightning rod. The modules supporting the “Cinema” letters are overlaid with vinyl and perforated metal. White LEDs illuminate the white polycarbonate face of each 4-in.-high letter. Similarly, SloanLED tubing illuminates each “border.” The 51-ft.-long Southlands sign has a painted metal mesh that supports 5-ft., 10-in. x 2-ft., 11-in. pan channel letters illuminated with white LEDs and overlaid with gold vinyl. The letter returns are decorated with Matthews gold paint.
SECOND PLACE
This 18-ft.-high x 66-in.-deep aluminum sign has open-channel neon letters and two, vertical, accent neon tubes. The “21” cabinet features Cyro’s Acrylite acrylic faces, 3M vinyl graphics and interior, metal-halide lighting. The 1-in.-thick “21” numerals are attached to the face. “Bar & Grill” is routed copy lit with neon. The sign base similarly features perimeter, neon accent lighting. The 1-in.-thick martini glass is decorated with Avery’s Kaleidoscope vinyl.
THIRD PLACE
The all-aluminum jukebox is 16 ft. tall, 10 ft. 6 in. wide and 2 ft. deep. The Altuglas Plexiglas acrylic faces feature Wagner Zip-Change Jewelite trim cap. For fabrication, no router was used, only jig saws and shears. The sign was designed using Gerber’s Omega 6.0 software. The channel letters are lit with rose neon.
