FIRST PLACE (TIE)
The Barnes Foundation, a Merion, PA-based organization that continues founder Albert C. Barnes’ mission to promote fine-arts appreciation and education, commissioned the development of three, 100- to 130-ft.-long, 12-ft.-tall sections of murals that promote the foundation’s future home on Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Cloud Gehshan Assoc. designed the program with Adobe’s Photoshop and Illustrator programs. Urban Sign & Crane produced inkjet-printed panels of 3M’s Controltac film wrapped over Nudo Products’ AlumaCorr™ panels that were attached with a series of modular, arched section connected to form the ribbon.
FIRST PLACE (TIE)
Underscoring mural diversity, this Cloud Gehshan project features seven, 20 x 10-ft. donor walls that comprise DuPont’s SentryGlas® safety glass that ORKA etched and filled with paint. To create the intricate imagery, Cloud Gehshan scanned the flora imagery at a very high resolution.
SECOND PLACE
Munoz and Wilkerson handpainted a series of murals of Freebirds World Burritos locations throughout the Lone Star State. They recreated a “peace and love” vibe for this Arlington location by handpainting a VW microbus’ likeness on an interior wall using 1Shot® lettering enamels. To complement the murals, they installed wall sconces fabricated from VW hubcaps.
THIRD PLACE
The Ogle County Physical Therapy facility benefitted from this kinetic, 11 x 5-ft. mural, which Adamany painted on Fredrix Yankee Style 122 medium-weight canvas with Benjamin Moore flat, interior acrylic latex and C2 and Muralo flat-finish enamel before installing it with wallpaper paste onto the surface.
