The Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) bestowed its 2015 Global Design Awards at its annual convention, which this year took place June 4-6 in Chicago. The winners brought a truly global flavor to environmental-graphic design — winning projects were installed in Iceland, Australia, Japan and other points across the globe. The organization has presented awards since 1987. Thirty-three projects — 27 Merit Awards and 6 Honor designations — received accolades.
"We’re now int he second digital revolution," Graham Hanson, principal of NYC-based design firm and chair of the 2015 Global Deisgn Awards chair, said. "The first one has many of us glued to large and small screens, and the second will liberage us from them and reconnect us with the physical world in meaningful, beautiful ways."
NYC-based Pentagram devised the Best in Show project, which promoted Platform, a conference that focuses on minority entrepreneurship. The project cleverly implements digital displays projected onto various inflatable objects.
