2015 Vehicle Graphics Readers’ Choice Award

ST proudly opened the floor to our www.signweb.com readers and social-media followers for our 3rd Annual Vehicle Graphics Readers’ Choice Survey. The field features 10 nominees, which are gleaned from the highest scorers from the regular contest’s scoresheets. However, the judges undergo an additional layer of judging via a verbal discussion of the merits of the projects that advance to the second round. As a result of this reevaluation, not every project that initially scores highly joins the juried competition’s winners’ circle. However, they have the opportunity to shine here.
The Readers’ Choice Survey transcends categories, so having food trucks, shop trucks and service vans competing head-to-head adds to its intrigue.
Survey respondents were allowed to vote once per electronic device (which, in today’s world, allows approximately 14 polling opportunities for many), and nominees were invited to spread the word among customers and friends. When the survey deadline arrived, it had garnered approximately 1,626 votes – a 26% increase over last year.
In the survey’s early stages, three contenders quickly emerged from the pack: Encore, SOGA’s Shop Truck and the Outlaw Grill. Checking in several times daily to view the results matched the anticipation of watching a horse race unfold. When the smoke cleared, Encore had prevailed with
approximately 34.5% of the vote; Creative Color’s Outlaw Grill earned second with 28.6% of selections by the electorate, and SOGA’s truck took third at 19.25%.
The survey included a section where respondents could leave comments. As usual, it solicited some descriptive replies. To wit:
“This wrap would catch anyone’s eye! The contrast of colors is phenomenal and the theme is perfect! I would love to eat [at Bill’s Epic Eats]!”
“The phone number [on the Encore wrap] is easy to read. I like the little guy. He looks happy, and it has family appeal.”
The [Outlaw Grill’s] graphics create a sense of excitement and signify that the owners are serious about their operation.”
“The design of the SOGA Graphics truck is definitely the most original, and very detailed!”
ST is grateful for everyone’s participation in the Readers’ Choice Survey. We’re proud of the judged gallery featured in this issue, but we also enjoy creating a forum to let readers have their say.
