3M’s Multi-touch Technology

3M Touch Systems Inc. (Austin, TX) is introducing Projected Capacitive Technology, with 20-finger simultaneous touch at less than a 6-millisecond response time. The technology’s applications include casino gaming, retail POS, foodservice, hospitality, self-service, industrial, health information systems and interactive digital signage.
The multi-finger, simultaneous touch response enables more immersive and intuitive applications, and the 6-millisecond response time (for 20 touches) enables more natural and responsive applications, the company states. Palm accommodation allows interface manipulation with one or more hands resting on screen. More than 3,000 touch points (for a 22-in. display) enable precise draw and edge accuracy for full-screen interactivity. The anti-stiction touch surface provides users with smooth and natural draw response.
