Al Zlatin (1918-2012)

Al Zlatin, most recently the propietor of Az Graphics (Baltimore) died October 17 on his 94th birthday, reported a former employee, Bernie August of Artbeat Graphic Designs (Sparrows Point, MD). Bernie recalled that Al was a regular participant in The Bullpen at the United State Sign Council’s (USSC) Sign World Intl. show, which will be held November 30-December 2, 2012 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Al typically painted showcards and demonstrated his two-handed writing routine, said Bernie, who worked for Al from 1975-1985 at Maryland Display Service.
Stony Brook (NY) University wrote about Al: "The wonderful creativity of your posters for our performances have lit up the walls of our main lobby for so many years. We waited with great anticipation each fall to see what new wonders you would produce. We will think of you, always, with love and fond memories as each new season begins. Your friends at the Staller Center for the Arts – Stony Brook University."
