Albany Window Mural Features Digital Graphics to Build a Brand

Roland DGA (Irvine, CA) and LogosPrint.com (Albany, NY) combined to create a winning combination for the University of Albany’s basketball arena. The State Employees Federal Credit Union (SEFCU) bought the arena’s naming rights and wanted to associate its brand with a young, energetic audience, said Craig Hall, president of LogosPrint.com.

LogosPrint.com created a 50 x 10-ft. translucent window banner for the arena entrance. The window “mural” highlights the university’s 19 sports programs.

PJ Brassard, LogosPrint.com’s creative director, created and presented the initial conept on 3 x 2-ft. presentation board using placeholder images from the athletics archives. After having secured approval, he blended in the images into a collage that extended across many windos. After completing the framework, he added creative touches with motion blurs, color correction, layer masks and other Photoshop tools. He imported high-resolution TIFFs of the images into Roland’s VersaWorks RIP software for printing.

A tight production deadline of less than a week was aided by a Roland SOLJET Pro II SC-545EX printer cutter loaded with Eco-SOL MAX ink and Roland LG MVCP matte calendar vinyl, Avery A8 high-performance die-cut vinyl and GMI ESM-VTVR view-through vinyl.

LogosPrint.com also re-branded the entire facility. Other graphics included sponsorship signs, door logos and vinyl banners.
