ArtCraft’s Garage Windows Give Shop Fiery Disposition

Since its opening in 1989, Artcraft Sign Studio (Pine Hill, NJ) has enjoyed tremendous growth – so much so that it purchased its city’s former firehouse because it required a large production and service area for vehicle wraps and other digital graphics. Shop owner Arthur Elkins says window graphics represent roughly 5% of its business.

To properly announce its new digs to the community, the shop decorated the windows of its 3 x 12-ft., roll-up doors with laminated graphics. Artcraft printed the graphics in sections using 3M’s Scotchcal IJ35-10C 3-mil, five-year, calendered media. The shop enlarged fire-truck images to match the window proportions. Installers cut out the door frames, and wrapped each glass pane individually with the graphics. Artcraft printed the graphics on the shop’s Mimaki JV3-160SP solvent-ink printer.

“Our shop makeover has been very well received,” Elkins said. “However, it has caused some confusion; when they see the fire-truck window graphics, some people think the old firehouse is still on the premises.”
