Avery Dennison Achieves +Vantage Vinyl Verification

Avery Dennison (Mentor, OH) has announced it has earned the +Vantage Vinyl Silver designation by achieving 90% compliance to all applicable +Vantage Vinyl Guiding Principles and implementing at least one Advanced Practice Achievement. +Vantage Vinyl is an industry-wide sustainability initiative that engages companies across the entire US vinyl value chain, according to a press release from Avery Dennison.

Companies that showcase the +Vantage Vinyl mark have undergone verification by third-party GreenCircle Certified, LLC to confirm their progress towards compliance with the +Vantage Vinyl Guiding Principles relating to environmental stewardship, social diligence, economic soundness, open communication, and collaboration. The initiative’s structure ensures that Avery Dennison is advancing the sustainability journey of the vinyl industry in alignment with targeted United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Avery Dennison joins just 25 other vinyl industry companies that have earned the +Vantage Vinyl designation — per the release.

+Vantage Vinyl is a sustainability initiative of the Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC), a self-funded business council advancing sustainability in the vinyl industry. It is the only sustainability initiative that allows participation from all companies within the entire vinyl value chain with US operations, ranging from raw material manufacturers and suppliers to final product manufacturers and retailers.

“This verification is incredibly important to Avery Dennison as an organization,” Abby Monnot, Sr. business director, GM, graphics solutions, is quoted in the press release. “It helps us demonstrate the importance of our sustainability initiatives to distribution customers and end users served by our Materials Group, specifically the Graphics Solutions Division and the Labels and Packaging Materials Division.”

Recent innovations include the Sustainable Advantage Portfolio, which contains hundreds of Avery Dennison products that help customers and their end-users reduce materials consumption, shrink their environmental footprint, and support safety, fairness, and human rights. The addition of PVC-free films from the Graphics Solutions division offers direct alternatives to traditional products, with no chlorine or other halogens, and no phthalate. These products include signage films, wall films and protective digital overlaminate films — also per the release.

“Congratulations to Avery Dennison for their successful verification to +Vantage Vinyl,” Jay Thomas, VSC executive director, is also quoted. “Continuous improvement of sustainability is a critical initiative of the vinyl industry. By verifying to +Vantage Vinyl, Avery Dennison has demonstrated their commitment to the environmental, social and governance tenets of the program’s Guiding Principles. We look forward to our continued collaboration and partnership in the +Vantage Vinyl program.”
