Bayer to Acquire Arkema’s Tuffak Polycarbonate

Bayer MaterialScience LLC (Pittsburgh, PA) announced, on April 12, plans to acquire the polycarbonate-sheet business of Arkema, Inc., which includes the company’s Tuffak® line of products. Financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.

Thomas Karl Kastner, global head of Bayer MaterialScience’s sheet business, said, “We plan to quickly integrate the Arkema, Inc. sheet business into our portfolio in order to provide our customers with an enhanced portfolio of industry leading polycarbonate sheet products."

For more than 60 years, Bayer MaterialScience has provided extruded thermoplastic sheet products. Bayer MaterialScience offers a broad range of Makrolon® polycarbonate sheet products for various markets.
