General Electric (GE)

The American Wind Energy Assn.’s annual Windpower Conference & Exhibition is the world’s largest wind-focused tradeshow. EP&M Intl.’s design team showcased GE’s brand, products and services for this dynamic industry. The unique, overhead, fabric construction appears to float above the attendees, with 3-D elements and Innovative Concert Lighting overhead illumination. Moss Inc. produced the large, overhead structure’s fabric framing and skin. The space also includes 10 NEC LCD and one Panasonic plasma display screens. Dottinger Design (Pompton Lakes, NJ) produced the digitally printed and illuminated graphics, and supervised installation, which was completed by Renaissance Management workers.

Client
Brookfield

Brookfield, an international, real-estate-development firm, wanted to make a splash with its booth space at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) RECON 2011 tradeshow in Las Vegas. Lorenc+Yoo Design principal Jan Lorenc said, “The design’s intention was creating a mobile version of Brookfield’s modern NYC headquarters using metal, acrylic, glass and lighting. Brookfield selected an island floorspace at the ICSC show, which challenged us to address all four sides.”
Lorenc+Yoo’s solution entailed a chamfered, bevel-clad, metal façade on every side, with acrylic panels and an illuminated band and logo along the back wall. The unified video monitors – which display supersized images of Brookfield’s properties – comprise inner, acrylic frames and exterior, metal-clad frames. Lorenc explained, “Flat-screen monitors have become more affordable, so we were able to incorporate these panels as a primary façade component. The frames add to the booth’s overall quality, which differentiates the exhibit from others.”
