Biodegradable Foamboard

The Gilman Brothers Co. (Gilman, CT) is offering two, biodegradable, foamboard products for signage and graphic displays. The materials are made from 15% recycled content with “bio resins” that, according to the company, cause the material to degrade in landfills or commercial composting machines that expose it to a bacteria-laden environment and allow a complete breakdown into a biomass material within five years, the company reports.

Insite®, a paper-faced foamboard, with smooth, bright-white paper liners, comprises wood products certified by the Sustainable Forest Initiative, and is designed for mounting, printing, laminating, screenprinting and die cutting. Duraplast®, an all-plastic foamboard, contains waterproof, biodegradable, polystyrene liners, and its pH-neutral surface is recommended for printing and mounting applications, according to the company.
