Broadway Blvd.: In the Middle of the Crossroads of the World

In a NYC first, a section of Broadway (42nd to 47th streets) that passes through Times Square closed to vehicular traffic and transformed into a pedestrian mall, known as Broadway Blvd. Lawn chairs have replaced the cars and trucks that passed through Broadway. Times Square now has its own, permanent viewing lounge in the middle of the Crossroads of the World.
Because of the new pedestrian mall, new rules of sign-truck access prevail, so they can enter the mall without disruption. That was solved with late-evening access, from midnight to early morning, and with engineering and special permits to set up cranes over the subway.
Thus, North Shore Neon worked in the dark to install the Barco LED frames on the American Eagle building. North Shore moved its trucks and cranes in place and successfully mounted all the LED frames (which totaled 14,660 sq. ft.) along the entire building facade and sign tower.
The public thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular nocturnal operations with their new, front-row seats in Duffy Square. Everybody became a sign enthusiast during the night when the huge LED frames glided towards the night sky trailing their taglines.
